Our Pro Bono Placement Program offers legal professions the opportunity to contribute to their community by providing much-needed legal services to marginalized members of our community, ensuring that those with limited incomes receive the legal support they require. Whether you are interested in offering brief consults at Street Law Clinics or taking on full pro bono cases, our program provides various levels of involvement to suit your preferences and schedule.
Level of Service:
- Street Law Clinics:
- Offer brief consultations to clients requiring legal assistance.
- Clients sign a Limited-Service Agreement, acknowledging the consultation’s limited scope to the Street Law session.
- Clinic to Pro Bono Transition
- Transition seamlessly from clinic consultation to undertake pro bono cases.
- If, during your interaction with a client at our clinic, you identify a pressing need and have capacity to offer further pro bono assistance, we will provide you with a LAW Advocates Attorney-Client Assistance Agreement specifying the level of service you are prepared to extend. LAW Advocates will follow up regarding pro bono hours and the legal support provided.
- Pro Bono: Direct Representation
- Engage directly with clients to assess and determine the level of involvement for their legal issues.
- Fill out LAW Advocates Attorney-Client Assistance Agreement with the client detailing the agreed-upon level service, and LAW Advocates will follow up regarding pro bono hours and the legal support provided.
Benefits of Participation:
- Earn MCLE Credits: Volunteering with a pro bono organization or Qualified Legal Services Provider
- Malpractice Insurance Coverage: LAW Advocates provides malpractice insurance to their legal volunteers.
- Retired Professionals: Retired legal professionals can maintain their practice status by transitioning to “pro bono” status for a limited annual license fee to WSBA.
- Fulfill Professional Responsibility: Aspire to meet the recommended 30 hours of pro bono service per year, as outlined in RPC 6.1
- Contribution to the Community: Make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need by offering your expertise and support.
Join our Pro Bono Placement Program and become part of a network of legal professionals dedicated to serving the underserved.
